TGB's Harrowing Experience

Winter has come to an end here and we've fed out most of our 800 big bales. All that organic matter and nutrients from other farmer's fields is now deposited on our pastures. But that is not the end of it. We harrow the fields we feed the buffalo in to break up the patties and help the nutrients go back in to the soil. All the neighbors can't believe how well our pastures hold up in dry summer conditions. Well this is a large part of it. Harrowing the manure also kills the larvae in the patties which reduces the occurrence of worms in the herd.

Have a good Easter.
